RFID Silicone Wristbands
Soft, waterproof RFID silicone wristbands in many colors and sizes for events, water parks, resorts and cashless payment.
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification, an innovation that recognizes items through radio waves. Since the RFID tag is embedded within the silicone wristband, environmental factors and water will not affect its functionality. The details in the RFID wristband will be passed to the RFID reader. Even though reading distance varies on the reader type and capacity, it ranges from 2 cm to 10 cm.

Advantages of RFID Silicone Wristbands
- Convenience: Quickly and easily gain access to certain areas or experiences without having to carry around a separate ID card or ticket.
- Security: Track the movements of individuals in a facility and restrict access to certain areas to authorized personnel only.
- Data collection: Collect data on the movements and behaviour of individuals in a facility, which can be used for research, marketing or operational purposes.
- Contactless payment: Loaded with cash or linked to a bank account to be used as a form of contactless payment, making it very convenient for event goers, theme park visitors or attendees at any event or venue.
Types of RFID Silicone Wristbands
- Silicone wristbands: Very soft and comfortable, non-toxic and waterproof, heat-resisting and durable – very suitable for swimming pools, hospitals, hotel management, amusement parks, exhibitions and carnivals. A good silicone wristband is bright in color and will not fade, causing no damage to the skin.
- Fabric wristbands: Known as festival wristbands in general, fashionable and energetic, favored by many young people. Bracelet and RFID tag can be any combination; both the label surface and bracelet can be printed with the sponsor's brand information – a perfect marketing method to make your brand visible to more people.
- PVC wristbands: Made of multi-layer PVC material with tensile resistance, comfort and durability. Relatively inexpensive, better waterproof and more durable than ordinary paper wristbands. Preferred in the medical field, water parks, attraction tickets, carnivals and children's parks.
- Paper wristbands: Disposable, light and low-cost. An economical choice for intelligent identification, tracking and access control, very suitable for large-scale events or projects with tight budgets such as amusement parks, concerts, sports events and exhibitions. Full color printing with color reduction of up to 95%.
Working Principle of RFID Silicone Wristbands
- Tag initialization: Each RFID tag is programmed before deployment with specific information relevant to its intended application, including unique identification numbers, access credentials or other relevant data.
- Transmission of radio waves: Tags on the wristband get energized by the reader's electromagnetic field within proximity to an RFID reader. This energy activation enables the RFID chip to transmit data back to the reader.
- Data transmission: The activated RFID tag sends the stored information to the reader through modulated radio frequency signals. The reader captures these signals and decodes the data contained in the tag's memory.
- Verification and processing: Upon receiving the data, the RFID reader verifies its authenticity and relevance, leading to actions such as granting access, recording attendance or triggering specific events.
List of Core Components of the Wristband
- Active wristbands: Send signals actively through a built-in battery to achieve long-distance receive and read. Often used in baby security, warehouse goods batch management and other remote management occasions. Reading distance can exceed 100 meters; operating frequencies are 433MHz, 900MHz, 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz.
- Passive wristbands: No built-in battery – the wristband tag gets its energy by induction current when it enters the magnetic field to send a signal. Reading distance is within 10 centimeters (about 1 meter with a dedicated device). Operating frequencies are mainly 125KHz and 13.56MHz.
- Semi-passive wristbands: Between active and passive, making up some of the shortcomings of both. The battery only powers the internal circuit and does not actively emit signals; the energy transfer mode is similar to the passive system, so its service life is much longer than general active tags.
Precautions of RFID Silicone Wristbands
- Remove your wristbands before going to sleep. While durable, they are not indestructible – movement during sleep can wear the edges down, and they may snag, stretch or break.
- You can stretch your wristband to a certain extent, but overstretching can damage it. Stretching when wearing and removing is okay; stretching to fit oversized objects can cause it to break.
- Silicone and rubber materials have some UV resistance, but over-exposure to sunlight over long or repetitive periods will cause damage. Limit UV exposure to ensure a long life.
- Exposing your wristbands to harsh chemicals is also a no-no. If chemical exposure is inevitable during work, remove your wristbands to keep them from being damaged.
- When removing your wristbands, do not mix them with metal items in cases or boxes. Keep them separate from everything else to ensure they last as long as they should.
How to Maintain RFID Silicone Wristbands
- Method 1 – warm water and detergent: Mix warm water with a bit of dishwashing detergent, soak the wristband for a few minutes, then gently scrub with a soft bristled brush. If the wristband has printed (not embossed) details, be careful not to scrub away the markings. Rinse with clean water and pat dry.
- Method 2 – sponge and mild soap: Mix mild liquid soap with hot water, soak the wristbands for a few minutes, then gently scrub the surface with a sponge to remove dirt and stains. Rinse thoroughly in tepid water, soak in cold water for at least 15 minutes, then wipe dry.
- For embossed or debossed grooves: Use a cuticle stick wrapped with a thin piece of cotton, dipped in the soapy mixture, to remove dirt and grime stuck in the cracks and crevices. Rinse after all dirt is removed, then soak in cold water.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of an RFID?
Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology uses radio waves to identify people or objects. A device reads information contained in a wireless tag from a distance without physical contact or line of sight.
Are RFID wristbands waterproof?
Yes. Silicone RFID wristbands are fully waterproof for swimming pools and water parks, and the chip is sealed inside so water will not affect its functionality.
Are RFID bracelets safe?
Yes. RFID wristbands are safe for the wearer and enhance event security by ensuring that only individuals with legitimate tickets can access an event.
Can you shower with an RFID wristband?
If your wristband uses an RFID chip, there is no reason to worry – the chip is waterproof.
What are the benefits of RFID wristbands?
Guests can easily access the park and its attractions without relying on wallets, backpacks or fanny packs. IDs, tickets and credit cards are unnecessary, so they won't be visible to potential thieves.
How does an RFID wristband work?
An RFID wristband contains a smart tag made up of an RFID chip and antenna. The tag can be visible or embedded in other wristband materials like silicone and cloth.
Can silicone wristbands get wet?
Yes. Silicone is 100% waterproof so the bands can get wet and will remain usable and wearable.
How long do silicone wristbands last?
Rubber is a tough material that can withstand lots of pressure from daily wear and tear. You can expect your silicone bracelet to last longer than two years.
Why do hotels use wristbands?
Hotels and resorts use wristbands to mark all-inclusive guests, grant access to nearby attractions like a waterpark, improve security and prevent counterfeits.
What are silicone wristbands made of?
Custom silicone wristbands are made using silicone rubber stock, and can be mass-produced quickly via a molding process that shapes them into the familiar round bracelet shape.
How do you clean a silicone wristband?
For a quick clean, rinse them in water with some gentle hand or facial soap. A toothbrush or toothpick can help with stuck-on grime in watch strap holes.
Are silicone wristbands still popular?
Yes. Silicone wristbands remain popular accessories and are used for a variety of purposes, including fundraising, marketing, awareness-raising and medical identification.
